Hello Terry. I have been listening to the talks with interest. However, it seems that the aspect of there being four yugas (or ages. Namely – Sat Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dwapar Yuga and Kali Yuga) through which our world inexorably passes has not been highlighted in the talks so far. For, the kind of movement towards spirituality that we are witnessing now is already predicted in the Vedas. According to common belief, the Earth is now moving through Kali Yuga (or the machine age). But, according to Swami Yukteshwar, the enlightened Master of Paramhansa Yogananda, there was an error in calculation of the commencement of yugas after the Pandavas departed for the Himalayas and we are in fact nearly 400 years into the ascending Dwapar Yuga, hence, the increasing incidence of spiritual hunger. Hence, to say that what we are witnessing today is unique to our times seems a bit misleading. Your take on this?

Thank you for extending to 2011, I for one need this input! The conversations have affirmed my awareness of the resonance that is involved at a molecular level, that all processes have been evolving over time, processes that have a component of polarisation within, in order to see the paradoxes that result from living the experiences. All is gift all is given when we speak life to the universe, a new song – one song. Thanks Terry and all those at Integral that have made this available to ordinary people such as myself.

  6. Patricia says

It has been a wonderful experience listening to all these conversations!
I learned, confirmed and started to have new questions and answers.
Looking forward for next year conversations as a learning priority.
Merry Christmas to all of you!

  7. Durdica from Uk says

So very well said and with so much passion Terry.
I must say i love listening your voice, so articulate yet so poetic. Look forward to next years continuation.

Thank you for your passion and commitment.

  8. gabriel says

i’m wondering why there is little talk regarding upper and lower right quadrants….

how is our understanding of the body, new physics, biochemistry, electromagnetic development support and enhance the space that the inner is growing into

in what ways is society and it’s various structures adapting and evolving in such a way that supports and enhances cultural interiors

  9. says

Terry and crew — this was a simply wonderful series of dialogues, with powerful and worthy insights from each one taking part.
I have but one suggestion — how about a shorter presentation– perhaps 20-30 minutes, and then open to dialogue with those posting questions and comments on computer or phone?
It seems to me that when the questions start coming in, the focus changes somewhat, and the conversation grows richer.
And I might add by the way, that the questions from the call in folks have been also very excellent, probing, and point in directions that otherwise might not be explored.
But above all I want to again, and with all the other posters, say how valuable and insighntful this series has been from start to finish.
It is a good time to be a learner in this world!
    Many blessings to all,
    Al

  10. says

    Hello Terry & Craig,

In your conversation you spoke of the idea of `evolution becoming conscious of iteself Since I had a direct experience of seeing how my psychological perceptive processing worked I have made it my life work to make my unconscious conscious.
I suddenly `saw` that I was living in a `thoughtform` which acted like a box which kept me bound and limited. I sawhow I was living in a polarised world of thought, thinking it was truth,
I also `saw` that I was not who I thought I was, my ego was a construct I had made up. As you can imagine this was a huge shock because apart from the usual biological question of `Who Am I`, I now had to face a much larger question, perhaps a universal question of ¬Who Am I, and what Am I supposed to be doing here.
I am sure I experienced a non local event, as I went beyond ordinary thought and seeing, and saw we were living in what what seemed like an infinite sea of possibilities, with no begging and no end, and that we weren`t ` FIXED` as we seemed to think we were.
This experience came about because it seemed like a gap had appeared in my consciousness and I had also reached a critical `mass`, I can`t explain more, but that is what it seemed like.
Since then I have had numerous deep inner experiences and stayed with them no matter how painful they might be, and by doing so I received information about myself and genetic line which I was unconscious of.
I sincerely believe that if each one of us saw through our own self deception, a deception which seems to protect us but actually keeps us enslaved, which I call the lie of myself, the world would be a far better place. It`s maybe a door not many people would not want to walk through.
I saw through consenual reality and so was able to gradually begin extricating myself from the historical and global consciousness which had formed this reality, which we take as truth. I think it`s called the `Collective consciousness`.

You speak of evolution becoming conscious of itself, and I think this is waht I experienced when I had this experience.
II have also realised the witness state and also the `Awareness that is aware of itself.and is not localised.

All the best to everyone. HAPPY XMAS

  11. says

    Terry,

Thank you so much for this incredible closure conversation tonight. For the realness, the truth, the authenticity of your heart towards all of us who have been listening to you since the beginning.

  12. says

    Second Tier

I used to try to pretend that I did not have a very good grasp of what it really meant to be living at second tier. As things become more clear to me I am beginning to see that part of this apparent self created confusion was caused because I did not really want to live there. I believe that these are some of the characteristics of a 21st century Bodhisattva living at a second tier way of being:

She would rather give than receive.

He would rather serve than be served.

She would rather love than be loved.

He would rather be humble than be exalted.

With this understanding a part of me questions why a person would even want to be like that and a part of me can somehow sense the potential beauty of this way of being.

I recall when the woman I love was recently in critical condition and struggling to survive. I was able to briefly set aside much of my selfish, separate self ego desires, demands and even needs; and focus only on giving to, serving, and loving her. Strangely enough during this period of time I was not suffering; I was not living in dukkha. My ego tries to convince me that happiness lies in looking out for number one but it does not seem to work out that way. I recall hearing a Buddhist master summing up Buddhism in one short phrase: “No me; no problem”.

Our Integral Spiritual Experience on love is almost here. It would be interesting to learn if even one person there invests even a few moments going out into the World of hurt to selflessly give, serve, and love. I will not be able to be there. If anyone attends and notices anything even remotely resembling this would you please let us know?

I cross posted this from my primary community http://www.integrallife.com Terry Patten’s words were a strong inspiration on my way of thinking regarding this topic. It will be interesting to see if he is able to grow from fine words to beautiful actions if he attends this event.

  13. says

In his latest book, ‘Messages from Water and the Universe, Masaru Emoto speaks of the the two words which, when spoken, produce the most beautiful and radiant water crystals. These are ‘love’ and ‘gratitude’ – with ‘gratitude’ in double proportion to ‘love’.
I have grown to truly love these talks. May I please send my gratitude in double measure!

  14. Adrian says

Thank you Terry for this inspiring series. I would love to hear Mooji interviewed also. His depth of presence is very inspiring and his ease of expression, no-nonsense attitude and the way he just exudes love have endeared him to a lot of people (and the numbers are growing). Even though he’s mostly stressing the need to recognize our own nature as the ground of being in a traditional advaita way (his teacher was Papaji) there’s also something new and refreshing about his way of doing that. And it’s not just because he’s a Jamaican who grew up in Brixton, London, or that he makes very good use of youtube for example. I bet he could illuminate some unexpected corners in this conversation.

  15. says

Thank you so much for this lively enlightened discussion/debate exploration into the part our spirituality plays in the evolution of the consciousness of the whole and of the way we respond to, interact and contribute to our world. I have been a seeker and on a path of personal conscious evolution for most of my life through the tenants of Christianity, the 12 Step program and in the past 10 years, a daily practice of yoga and meditation under the guidance of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev (one of your guest speakers). As I have grown in my self awareness and my healing of old wounds, my desire to make a contribution to the world around me has also grown. When I was in pain, my first priority was to heal myself and I didn’t have the energy or power to heal the world around me. So with regard to your question about spiritual practice being self-centered, yes I think it must be self centered until ones awareness of his Self goes beyond his self (the ego) and only then can he truly contribute. In other words, every individual consciousness contributes to the consciousness of the whole so raising the individual consciousness should be the first priority. But then once the individual evolves to a point beyond his ego he cannot help but work to manifest the kingdom of God on earth as it is in Heaven.

  16. Joan Levy says

I was able to download and listen to the first 2 talks in this series and after that was no longer able to. Do you have any suggestions how I can access the audio archives from my iPhone now?

    thanks, Joan Levy

  17. janis says

Thank You so much Terry for sharing this series with the World
Its the ting I look foeard to MOST everyweek in my inbox.
Wish I could thank you in person some day

  18. Philip Maultby says

    Thank you Adyashanti.
Is there not an unquestioned assumption that what seems to be being lost is what needs to be restored?
Surely it is on the ‘back’ of those living more consciously and increasingly manifesting positive qualities in their living that is the source, the energy, the driver of the huge currents of purification we are experiencing in our individual lives and in the larger picture. Whether it is how, for example, I am when the lines at the check-out are long or what propelled the Enron and banking accountability currents it is all the one energy which is being transferred from ‘dark to light’. Who knows what is to be?
Trust like never before is what I currently work with.

    • CHERRY BLASKETT says

I really like your comment Phillip, it’s something I’ve come to myself, here on my montain in Tasmania in contemplation, radical faith, or recontructed faith, which I believe is not the old blind faith, nor is it aware faith, but something beyond both of these…
And I lke the way you pull the spiritual path right down into the supermarket check out line. I agree with you, it is in the everyday, the chop wood, carry water, sacred tasks of living that we need to attend to as well. I’ve not yet mastered the check out line..sometimes I can….cherry

Hi Terry: This whole site (as well as the discussions) is so real, so authentic and we all appreciate the unlimited access we have to the dialogues. There is a beautiful honesty that exists in your work that is simultaneously free of the hard-sell “spirituality” that many other sites are using at this time. A heart felt thank you to you.

  22. Renee Miller says

Thank you so much Terry, all of the sponsors, and everyone involved! Two more to go and I will have gratefully listened to every conversation, so far! What a tremendous gift to the planet! I’m part of a study group at my local Unity church, so I asked last week if anyone else had been following the Beyond Awakening series. Amazingly, no one else had! When I described what’s been going on and what’s available through the series everyone was enthusiastic about me bringing in my laptop so we can listen to some of the interviews together. I’m sure this will give rise to deep discussions and activations. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

  23. Peggy Babcock says

Doing “what attracts you” …. discovering what brings you joy, going for the positive …. sounds like Joseph Campbell’s famous statement to “Follow your bliss”.

Listening to Barbara adds sparkle to my day and my life. Evolution is fun! Thanks, Terry.

  24. Jackie Lambert says

Thank you so much for this fabulous oportunity to hear all these wonderful people -co-creators and co-evolutionaries ! This is really evolution becoming conscious of itself -how lucky we are to be alive at this time in history !
And as a woman,( also 80 yrs. young!) I was deeply moved by Barbara Marx Hubbard and thank her very much for expressing her thoughts on the creative role of women.

  25. says

Thank you Terry for your tireless dedication in bringing to all of us the great inspirational and uplifting creative thoughts and messages from these masters who so kindly share their visions with us.
The fact that we can all download these wonderful messages is a further confirmation of the liberating and quickening power of bringing humanity together through technology.

This has been the most inspiring series so far. What an opportunity to meet people with a variety of insights. I was glad to hear Hale Dwoskin as his work has been part of my shadow practice for years. I always return to it because of the simplicity and effectiveness of the Sedona method.

  29. Maria Mazhary says

I have loved everything I have heard in these conversations. So much gratitude. I usually hear them after they have occurred live. This is the first time I heard the “open phone lines” good bye. It brought me to tears…deep releasing cry…the beauty and love in the voice of our human family spread across the planet, brought together in a moment in time through our longing to express our highest potential…it gave me such a powerful feeling for the tsunami of love sweeping our planet at this very moment..and this moment…and this moment! Thank you, with all my heart. Only love.

  30. melanie restall says

Thank you for this wonderful open conversation. I just listened to the recorded one with Ram Dass. I’m so happy I listened to the live one first as it had such blessed depth. Bless you, and bless us all.

      • Janis says

Hi Terry, Thanks so much for choosing to continue in 2011
I was afraid to ask when the series would end, in fear that it would, at some point. I have not been able to connect with anyone in this area really interested as I have become, I do post many of the recordings to my facebook page, hoping those I love and care about will receive a gift through listening. But, if there is ever a need for some Clerical or Coordinating duties associated with the Series
I will sell everything and move out to The Bay Area in a heartbeat. There seems no need for my presence where I have spent my life, so keep me in mind and Thank You so much for presenting this material free of charge. Blessings Janis

  40. Dorothea Hrossowyc says

Thank you so much for such a valuable series. I love to know there are so many people in the world working to create the world we really want to live in. And thanks for Terry’s great leadership. I would like to ask for one thing. I would really like time at the very beginning of any broadcast, for the speaker to be able to make some main points, so we can all know this right away. If the speakers can define what they mean right away by the title of the talk, I think the rest of the conversation will be deeper adn more coherent. Thanks for considering this.

    Robert Augustus Masters on Intimacy

We could try to live our life numb, fragmented, and in denial but it might be difficult to hold these qualities in a true intimate relationship. If such a transparent, vulnerable, no exit relationship is working, our shadows and neurosis will come to the surface to be healed.

Robert’s work involves becoming more intimate with all parts, states, and qualities of our self including our anger, fear, sadness, shame, guilt, self criticism, and self hatred. We can not get rid of these and need not make these our leaders; but we need to know how to relate with them in a healthy way. Robert invites us to equally value the personal, relational, and transcendent.

In a relationship there is connection and also separation. A good practice in a relationship is to allow a person to be who she is and hold her in a safe place of love. A good motivation for a relationship is to serve the World together.

Terry is calling for a sangha where PEERS can be together in transparency, vulnerability, self awareness, strength, and inspiration for the World. Why not start right now with all the guests on these talks? Are they willing to walk the talk together? Are they willing to allow us to be with them as peers to heal, grow, and serve the World together? These are actual questions.

A caution; as we become more and more open, sensitive and vulnerable we also need to have groundedness, boundaries, strength, power, spaciousness, and some numbness in order to survive in the sometimes painful and messy world of samsara.

I found this talk to be a great blessing. Thank you. I have crossposted this on my primary community site http://www.integrallife.com

Thanks so much for helping with the emergence of this new awareness trough out the planet, you’re doing an incredible job.

Very much agree with Jean that it is women of a certain age who are the leaders.

I’m not convinced that there is much difference between what is required by men or women. I do think that women’s suppressed gifts are now permitted expression – and so this new thing gets the attention. If men would get over the macho nonsense I think this would capture equal attention. I think this will involve men speaking about their history of abuse – in this I think the women’s movement is a generation ahead of the men.

    Hello,

I want to thank you for this series
I have just listened to Andrew Cohens great interview and would like to question something he states which seems to not align with a direct non local experience I had re “bercoming`
What happened was a gap appeared in my consciousness due it seemed to a critical mass. Suddenly I saw I was not who I thought I was but more
It showed me a limitation I had been labouring under because I had been enclosed in a polarised thought form. Then I saw what was like a reel of photographic film which were events in time, but my consciousness saw it clips as a movie because of the interpretations I was making about the events. It appeared I was actually making up a story.
Anyway suddenly it was shown to me that I was always `becoming`, that is striving to be more than I was. It also seemed to show that while I was always striving to `become` I could never `Be` Suddenly I realised I had come into ¬BEING¬.

I think I may have become soul realised – this eexperience which cannot be explained adequately in words seems to contradict wahat Andrew Cohen is saying
I would love to have your comments please because I think this non local experience I had is important

Thank you for the Hale Dwoskin audio and your generous time for free…it is a pleasure to listen to Hale and I loved the way the interviewer really enjoyed and naturally experienced Hale’s teachings too, evidenced by the peacefulness in his voice at times :) Ive worked with the Sedona Method and it is exceptional, the wish being that ultimately everyone wants to experience and discover the truth within and Earth reveals itself as….. one heart of inner awareness!!!! aaaah 😉

  47. Cloyce Terrell says

To Terry, Ken, and all the participants in this ‘Beyond Awakening’ series, including the commentaries: My consciousness has been filled with a fullness of appreciation and gratefulness that is rare in my experience. The wisdom that emanates from these Seers has moved my perspectives to a wider and more inclusive subjective level, and a feeling of being a part of a meta-sangha which has an identity of the Realty beyond. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Dan Millman – Life as Practice

I am grateful for Dan Millman’s call to live life as our primary Spiritual and integral practice. Am I doing a good job at work? Am I kind in my relationships? Am I contributing? It need not be much more complex than this. I don’t understand why life itself is not yet a core module of Integral Life Practice.

I am inspired by Terry Patten’s vision of a sangha of sanghas forming to serve Eros and the World. I believe that we have much to offer as our integral community. Dave Logan teaches that the more highly developed a person is the more potential he has to make a positive contribution for the World. I believe that the time has come to transcend our hobby of ideas and begin to get some real traction in the real 3-D World.

This collection of talks is a precious gift. Many thanks to Terry and his generous sponsors.

Thank you thank you thank you for making these recordings available to the public for free. I am so grateful to you for doing this and you have my utmost respect. I have only listened to a couple so far but the quality is excellent both in content and the technical side of things. Great abundance and blessings to you, Terry, the teachers and sponsors.

It is still not too late to rethink education of children in terms of what we know about spirituality.Traditional education about conditioning… it should be about awakening.

    • says

      Marion,
The 10% shift is all that is required to instigate this in the education of children. We can hand on the development or evolving so that the children are not wandering in the wilderness, so to speak, for toooo long and so hinder the evolution of a new paradigm, for when this responsibility is taken seriously, we as parents, will hand it on to them and they will awaken that is what faith is about and trusting the Ultimate to provide for this, this is survival, not only as individuals but for all people throughout the world.
We’ve been out on the branch for so long, I guess it will take awhile, to filter through to the power crazed and those that want to have control over others lives because it behoved them to do that and the species or mind set is perpetuated like the limpets that cling to a sinking ship.

  54. Malte Blegvad says

I just wanted to express my appreciation for Terry Pattens willingness to show leadership on this awesome task of ours, the spiritual riddle of our times. Also when, and even though, it seems very true that we are pushed back and fourth between theory and practical work (Dan Millman), and between so many perspectives that are all true (all the different guests).
We of course have to work from where we are now, but, holy Moses, I think we are many that long for a TRUE salvation, that we can only hope exist.

  55. says

Brother David to take the bible seriously, I have discovered that there is a difference between the literal and the metaphorical. The literal, to my way of thinking, has caused so much heart break in the past and has lead so many to do the abominable in the name of Christ and think that they are doing a service for God but it does lend itself to developing an understanding of the historical Christ and the time in which He lived. Taking the bible literally today can be dangerous, to take the bible metaphorically is trancendence and transforming.
Many Blessings and with much Gratefulness.

    • Clay Skarda says

Regarding the damage, I agree. And those who are deeply ethnocentric are more prone to be literalists, and as we emerge into 2nd Tier consciousness, the entire phenomenal world becomes pregnant with meaning beyond concept and form. However, I suspect it is not the literal beliefs that divide, it is the egoistic attachment to them. I believe there is an unjustified aversion to literalism in the Integral movement. Moreover, to bring an Integral Vision to the traditional church, synagogue or mosque, we need to be able to hold the literal and the metaphoric together, and those who believe what I believe, and those who do not without judgment. All are capable of being icons to a greater vision, icons to the infinite. As a Christian, I still hold the literal and metaphoric together, but cling to neither. Truth may be absolute, but we all see through a glass dimly. If my beliefs were completely shattered, my faith would be unscathed. The “enemy” is not the literalness of one’s belief, but one’s relationship to one’s beliefs, whether literal or metaphoric.

      • says

Yes, totally agree Clay, these are the polarisations or otherwise known extremes that humanity seems to swing to and fro through generations, this is the tension and learning to live with that in a human sphere. Isn’t wonderful that we can express these thoughts. Thanks Integral this is sooooo amazing and up lifting.

  56. says

I agree the introductions are frustratingly drawn out and i skip through them when listening to the replay.
It is incredible that this event is provided for free. I have been passing information around to my English speaking friends here in Siberia who miss out on all sorts of interesting teleseries and courses because of the difference in living standards.
TRANSLATION In response to Alyssan Balmforth about translating these dialogues, I too would be willing to work on translations into the Russian language. Transcribed they would make a great book.

  57. Raymonde Bissett says

The best food for the mind these teleconferences ! if only we knew we`re already what we`re seeking. no one there to know or not know, there is only isness. one has to be mindful that we`re not removing one concept and replacing it with a 21st century concept. what is happening is only indentification with the mind which is false in the big picture. There are people with simple mind, therefore keep it simple, the great sages of our time, whereby the educated were flocking to India the hear the not this, not this as the mind can only know what is not. I thank you all for bringing the awarenes to the educated mind, perhaps, it can transpire to the ordinary where there desires will be replaced by discovering their treasures rather where or how can they play in the big picture of our dead end society. With much thanks to you all, keep up the good work where the politicians have failed.

To be a part of such a community is in itself an enormous privilege and the source of great joy.

Thankyou for your work and insight in making these talks available to so many. As the communication network of the brain of the newly evolving being Gaia, it is very important that the internet be used in this way. I look forward to your talks and always receive greatly from you.
I wonder if your are thinking about translating the talks at anytime? Either in written or spoken form… I would be honoured to participate in a team of translators/interpreters to acheive this goal. I live in Peru and know many who would benefit from a Spanish translation here. Is there anyone out there who knows of technology that would permit interpretation of the talks as they occur by online interpreters?

Wonderful Terry and Everyone…. what a great series. I listen avidly and learn a great deal. I would like to comment that I think the “plugs” for the sponsors are a bit over done. I should think a mention either at the beginning or the end would be sufficient, but both?! Plus, that would leave more time for discussion. :)

    Blessings to you All…….

    • DOMINIC TAGLIAVENTO says

Excellent program Terry and staff….I respectfully disagree with the above comments. To be provided “free of charge” this highest level of speakers and subject matter is such a rarity in todays world commercial greed, I would gladly listen to a third mid-program mention of the sponsors. Thank you you all so much, greatly appreciated.

  66. says

Each one of the dialogues thus far has been genuine dynamite!
But after listening to the one with Terry and Katherine Woodward — well –that is sheer nitroglycerine!
Also — as I was listening, what came to my mind was the work many decades ago of the great Jewish Philosopher Martin Buber, most cogently and powerfully expressed in his timeless book “I And Thou.”
In so many ways, what this conversation is, and all the conversations to some extent, is a further distillation and embodiment of what Buber called the I-Thou relationship.
I expect Buber and other luminous pioneers such as Joseph Campbell, Abraham Maslow, Carl Rogers, Rollo and Gerald May — and countless women scholars and leaders — would be pleased to witness The Integral Movement taking place in this time in history.

These talks are uniformly wonderful, thanks Terry. I would love to hear from someone working in a particular field of endeavor, medicine, law, politics – whatever – and was actually working these ideas into relative/real life. That would be really quite interesting. Nevertheless, even some of these more “abstract” talks are very powerful.

  68. Jim Trattner says

Thank you for attempting this feat of creating a “meta-sangha.
I’m hoping that there will be an attempt to deconstruct what we mean by spiritual. I am interested in the issue of “spiritual materialism”. This forum will differentiate from earlier attempts at
facing challenges on a planetary scale only if we somehow dissolve our tendency to speak to each other as Authority Figures talking to students. My bias comes from Advaita teachings which are non-prescriptive and non-dual. I’m wondering if we can integrate non-dual teachings into this more traditional framework of Classic Wisdom teachings which seem to depend on Authorities. I’m hoping that my comment makes sense.

  69. CLIVE SCOTT says

All your speakers so far have been excellent and obviously knowledgeable and deep. My only complaint is the length of time it takes to get past all the introductory “bumf”. I want to meet the speaker and hear what he or she has to say. Surely we will get to know them better when they are speaking or interacting directly, rather than all the, “they are this or that and have climbed Mount Everest etc”. Lets get to them quicker. Other than that I have really enjoyed the process. Well done to you all.

    • Karen Kasper says

I agree that the introductions could be shorter. It starts to be a mutual admiration society and time is too short for that. Great job otherwise and thanks for this opportunity.

        • DOMINIC TAGLIAVENTO says

Strongly agree with the above responders. The “Beyond Awakening” Program and it’s speakers’ are of a high enough quality to stand on thier own without the need for the excessive time spent complimenting each other. Besides that minor issue, absolutely superb program of speakers and subject matter, much appreciated and thank you.

          • Erin Rasmussen says

Hello, just wanted to say I am finding myself disagreeing with the above comments.
I have enjoyed the dialogues so much, I have listened to each two or three times. I have noticed that on these later listenings, I find this preliminary info even more relevant, in that it gives a fuller context to their expressions. I like knowing more about the twists and turns on each speakers path.
Also, I will speak for myself here, when I notice I am impatient to “get to the good stuff” I am in danger of trampling the present moment. I like hearing the speakers honor each other. I think that respect and honor is a key ingredient in what is being asked of all of us.

          • Andi St.Clare says

I read Karen’s comment and found my head nodding in firm agreement. Then I read Nils’ comment and my head was still nodding. Then I read Dominic’s comment and my head was still nodding. Then I read Erin’s comment and something else stirred inside me at that point, and I thought, “Wow! I hadn’t been giving it so much attention but I hear some of that in me too!”

  70. David Wenbert says

Discussing ‘spirituality’ without talking about the nature of our actual spirit – or Soul – is an empty and vacuous exercise. This is 2010, a year which follows the accession of the Hameroff-Penrose Theory of Quantum Consciousness to the forefront of the scientific understanding of who and what we really are. Now that Drs. Radin, Sheldrake, Shwartz, Nelson, Hagelin, Wolf, Goswamy, Josephson and others have established that our living spirit is *NOT* a captive product of the wetware in our meat brains, but something altogether different and of a transcendental, quantum mechanical nature, let’s get on with building an empirical, fact-based spirituality that makes sense.

Scientific Materialism has been Falsified; it is as dead a doctrine as any other sort of orthodox fundamentalist dogma. ALL of the Faitheists have been proven wrong, on both sides; there most definitely *IS* something ‘Out There’ in the Beyond, but it cannot be anthropomorphized into any cartoonish little “God Person” beyond ourselves, individually and collectively, as we cohere with The Infinite.

Let us embrace the emergent scientific understandings of Indeterminacy and Chaos, and wake up to the reality that we are Spirit, merely colonizing Matter, currently through the mechanism of biology; we are not these meatbags, and they are not our future. Until we move beyond our fear-driven reductionist materialism on the one hand, and the childish need to create God in our own image on the other, we can never hope to apprehend the Infinite.

THAT is the challenge that we come to, ‘beyond awakening’….

    • Mats Larsson says

“Now that Drs. Radin, Sheldrake, Shwartz, Nelson, Hagelin, Wolf, Goswamy, Josephson and others have established that our living spirit is *NOT* a captive product of the wetware in our meat brains, but something altogether different and of a transcendental, quantum mechanical nature, let’s get on with building an empirical, fact-based spirituality that makes sense.”

Wow, this is so interesting! I would be delighted if you please could recommend books that these people has written and that you find convincing.

      Thank you!

      – Mats

      • David Wenbert says

There are many books and scientific papers between them. Dean Radin’s “Entangled Minds” and Rupert Sheldrake’s “Morphic Resonance” are among the most impressive. While I have not yet read Gary Schwartz’ “The Afterlife Experiments” or “The G.O.D. Experiments”, his scientific papers on the subjects reflect some very impressive empirical research.

Nobel Prize winning physicist Brian Josephson’s classic paper
“Biological Utilization of Quantum Nonlocality” (available here: http://www.tcm.phy.cam.ac.uk/~bdj10/papers/bell.html ) certainly should give pause to the followers of orthodox scientific fundamentalist dogma…

    • DOMINIC TAGLIAVENTO says

While a bit wordy David’s beautifully composed thoughts related to the new discoveries of quantum mechanics rings true for many us. Hopefully we are reaching a point in our evolution where we no longer need to seperate the fields of science and spiritualism. The quantum reality provides as beautiful, sacred, all encompassing “God” as any story humans could ever create.

    • says

David: Enjoyed your piece here. Question: is it not true that what you have written and scientific materialism, and all dogma are equally stories? Are they not all products of imagination, so that they may point to truth but never be it?

      • David Wenbert says

I dont believe that ‘Truth’ is ultimately unknowable, merely that ‘scientific’ Materialism has, in fact, been evidentially falsified and cannot be it. Since we are transcendental Souls who we now know for fact do survive biological death, and this establishes the existence of our kind as ‘spirit beings’; if we can exist in a non-physical, incorporeal state, then it is logical to assume that other forms of life may, as well.

The implication is not merely that Extra-Terrestrials are also likely to have Souls. Our own transcendental nature admits to the possibility – even the likelihood – of a veritable zoo of God(s), Devil(s), Angels, Demons, Faeries, Pixies, Sprites, and Wood Nymphs. The establishment of the Hameroff-Penrose Theory of Quantum Consciousness is the most important temporal issue in all of Spirituality; as, if proven, it is what makes God possible…..

        • Lyn says

“Since we are transcendental Souls who we now know for fact do survive biological death…”

I am enjoying your comments very much. Can you explain the preceding quote?

    • Nan Fox says

Thankyou David! The truth that literally everything, every being, is energy vibrating at various levels of frequency, with spirit beings what makes us appear to be different from one another is the variations in our frequencies.

I was tempted to skip Claire Zammits discussion. Any event of this type (higher learning) I have attended has been dominated at least in attendance by women and I didn’t get why it was being billed the way it was. After listening my only disagreement is that the program she developed and teaches is for women only. I know at one man who would like to at least take the program as it is presented to women.I am not gay or confused about being a man, I think that first of all, to honor the statement ” we can not solve the problems with the same consciousness that created them” it is time to open things up a lot. I do understand what was said about problems of a mixed group, I also think there are men like myself who have not been terribly impressed or comfortable with their male role models and what is presented by men for men, who are not intimidated by strong women who might learn more effectively by the female approach.

    • Jo Flynn says

      Hi Scott,
I’ve particIpated in Claire and Kathryn’s Feminine Power teleseries…and while I felt it was extraordinary…I didnt feel like it was something men are missing out on. There are plenty of great teachers around – all saying exactly what Claire and Kathryn are saying. Its not new.
From the Integral perspective – it is simply a space in which to move from egoic to transegoic (or perhaps more specifically: reactive to creative in Kegans model) That necessitates an integrating of opposites. In this case FP focusses on the masculine and the feminine. But they could as easily be focussing on yin and yang, self oriented vs other oriented…or any other split in self.

Having said that – women have been integrating opposites consciously for a while (feminism kicked us out of the home and into the workforce) so we’ve learned to navigate both matriarchal spaces and patriarchal spaces. That gives us a headstart. It also invites us to share what we have learnt from that experience – in ways that are digestible to both men and women.

Thats certainly the intention I have coming out of the teleseries anyway…more conversations that begin in the integral edge…rather than in the lead up to it.

      Jo

      • CHERRY BLASKETT says

Well said Jo, as a graduate of FP , and as a Feminist activist, I agree with you about women having had to navigate both worlds, Yin & Yang for years, and now we are integrating both of those worlds. I think that men would benefit from being more involved and accepting of their own feminine energy…not in any hot housed, new fangled way, but on a daily and in an embodied way.
These two energies yin/yang, cannot be integrated until each one has reached its ultimate expression in an individual.

    • Nan Fox says

Hello Scott, Thankyou so much for being honest about your personal feelings. My husband Charlie and i have been together for 37 years and i must say that things are really changing in that men, i believe are feeling more comfortable in coming out of the shell created by society through the ages, which had always been; Men don’t cry, men don’t have sensitivities, men don’t have fears, all men like to lead, all men like sports, men like to control women. I could go on but i know everybody here knows what i am saying. These “all” statements have been the plague of both sexes, to try and heal from. My husband, like you Scott is an intelligent man who has worked very hard to take care of our 4 sons along with me. We are best friends, he loves animals, he does not like contact sports, he loves gardening and creating things. If he had been a human that did not have these qualities i would not have been interested in him. Charlie appreciates women and has an amazing understanding. That being said, i have had many women friends in my life that have looked at me sideways stating that they are not at all interested in a man being their best friend, they ” want a mans man??!!_(^#!” This is not women on the edge of great Spirituality, i believe most things masculine or feminine are ultimately balanced out and Spirituality is individual and collective all at once, we are Spirit having beings experience on this magnificent , breathlessly beautiful Planet, that now is so very fragile. Should we not focus on That and act as a whole for the greater good instead of worrying about how each of us may differ?

    • Peggy Babcock says

Thanks, Scott, for speaking it so clearly. I’ve chosen to not take FP precisely because I’ve worked enough with women-only groups and am now much more interested in discovering the next step in the evolution of our relationship to men. That’s the crucible within which we’ll learn what an evolutionary culture might be. Let’s open all the doors and get crackin’.

What an amazing initiative, and I am thrilled to be a part of it. My experiences in building an international business in the middle of a global financial crisis, combined with my wife’s successful battle with cancer, have led us to an understanding of some fundamental truths about ourselves and the nature of the world around us. This has led us to coaching, and we have found that there is no greater joy or privilege then helping people awaken to their own potential. It is an honour to be a part of such an amazing group of luminaries, and I am excited by what we can co-create together.
